Manipur has encountered one of the worst cyclones on 15th April. It wreaked havoc mostly in Churachandpur, Bishnupur and southern part of Kakching district. A terrible situation has happened in Kwakta at Manipur Creative School (MCS) when the storm ravaged the whole school building where normal classes were going on in the campus on 15th April 2019. The school had 12 Classrooms, 1 Hostel, 1 Administrator room, 1 Staff room, 1 Principal room, 1 Prayer Hall and 1 Store room, 1 Warden room and a Waiting Shed. The casualty left 29 persons injured including 18 students, 10 teachers and 1 gatekeeper out of which 5 are in critical and fortunately no loss of life.
The Manipur Creative School is run and managed by Education Support Society (ESS) having 9 members from different walks of life and truly inspired by pioneering people in the field of education from all over the world. The society has till now established two campuses which are recognized by State Govt. and affiliating through CBSE, one in Kwakta in 2016 and the other in Imphal in 2017. Both campuses have up to 8th standard. Till now, the school is funded by the promoters of the society.
29 PERSONS INJURED
It has been one of the dream projects for the members to establish a society of responsibility or a civilized one by molding the younger generations through lateral thinking, pragmatic experiences and other curricular works which reduces the gap between school, home and community. However, this process will be freezed for at least 45 days or till new school building is constructed. The society has no option to arrange such a big amount within such short span of time. Unless we do not construct the building and resume the class, the future of the 400+ students of the Kwakta campus will be ruined and confidence of parents which we have been building up since 2016 cannot be restored.
RECONSTRUCTION OF SCHOOL WITHIN 45 DAYS
We have no option but to appeal to every philanthropist, educationists, pioneers of the society to come forward and do little contribution which will be immensely helpful to rebuild the campus as soon as possible. Even a penny counts!
